Some early bird announcements before we begin!

To my students, I know most of you will be off to the shops this weekend to buy everything you need for school. While I will make this announcement when we meet next week, I’d like you to start passing the message. You will need the following for my class:
A map of Asia. I would prefer one that shows you the topography (mountains, rivers and valleys). You may purchase any at NBS or have your own printed out. If you have a World Atlas (even the kiddie ones!), you may use that for my class.
An e-mail address.
Your personal references. Just take a quick look around your house. While you don’t have to have any of the following, it’s great to have these around when you’re in my class — because in class we don’t have Google :
world atlas (as mentioned above)
almanac (as updated as you can)
history books (you know, the colored, glossy, picture-filled kind you were given when you were younger)
Also, we will be reading three books this year. I’ll be updating you on exactly when we will be needing them.
“The Tao of Pooh” by Benjamin Hoff (1st to 2nd quarter)
“The Diary of Ma Yan” edited by Pierre Haski (2nd to 3rd quarter)
“Night” by Elie Wiesel (4th quarter)
This is all for now. If you have e-groups or blogs, do get this around! See you all soon!
